Our mission to provide young people in Hakatere district a place of belonging, easy access to support, development opportunities and youth specific health services – through Hype Youth health Centre.

 

 

Drop in hours: Monday – Friday 3pm – 5pm 

 

 

Roles and functions of the Ashburton Youth Café Charitable Trust

•  Create a venue which is free of alcohol, drugs and intimidation

•  Provide supervision while youth are on premise

•  Keep youth safe from harm on premise

•  Provide youth development opportunities

•  Support youth initiatives and encourage progression

•  Work alongside other agencies supporting youth

 

 

Supporting Community Agencies and Youth Services

Access to Hype Youth Health Centre and local youth agencies when needed.

Southern Regional Health school use base during the day for SHS regirstered students

Youth Focus Group community youth workers monthly catch up and support

 

 

Youth activities and programmes - we offer a range of free programmes in our local community, including life skills, cooking, budgeting, puberty, self-esteem building our young people.  We evaluate and adjust our programmes to meet the changing needs of our young people.

 

 

Health services 2020 (wish list)

BASE seeks to employ a qualified counsellor to make counselling easily accessible to our young people.  

BASE is working collaboratively with HYPE and seeks to establish a sexual health clinic for 10- 24yr olds.

 

 

Social Space 

Monday to Friday our doors are open for young people to meet friends, make friends, chill out, cook, eat, enjoy music and activities, offering free Wi-Fi and access to online computers.
